THE
KANKOON
COLLECTION

THE
KANKOON
COLLECTION

‘The Kankoon Collection’

is a collection continuing on from the inspiration
of PHYA’s bestselling ‘Mata and Nadda’ range.
The name ‘Kankoon’ is orginally derived from
the Thai phrase ‘Kan Kaen Koon’, or the core
of the golden shower tree (Cassia Fistula),
which is the source of Khon Kaen silk.

‘Kan Kaen Koon’

silk is composed of
seven auspicious symbols

‘Lai Khor’ means prosperity
‘Lai Maak Jub’ symbolizes love; and finally
‘Lai Kong’ symbolizes the prosperous and wealthy territory
‘Lai Khom’ exhibits wisdom and Isaan (north-eastern) culture
‘Lai Kan’ displays the ‘kan’ the traditional musical instrument of Khon Kaen
‘Lai Paan Bai Sri Su Kwan’ indicates friendship and the Pool Xiao tradition
‘Lai Dok Koon’ represents the Golden Shower Tree – the floral symbol of Khon Kaen

PHYA has chosen the beautiful variety of ‘Mudmee’ silk entitled
‘Kan Kaen Koon’ from Khon Kaen, the province of the golden shower tree, as a material for our products.
With the meaning of the seven symbols of ‘Kan Kaen Koon’ silk in mind, the beautiful silk is combined
with the use of premium-quality Italian leather and fashioned into compact-sized rectangular bags
for women who like to add a little touch of Thai culture to their everyday style.
